Play Our Way grants available

Councils are invited to apply for grants to address some of the barriers women and girls face when participating in sport and physical activity.

There is a total of $200 million available, with the grants aiming to deliver quality facilities and sport experiences where the needs are greatest, and in a manner that is safe, equitable, accessible, inclusive, sustainable, and enduring.

Councils can apply for between $50,000 to $1.5 million, in the Stream 1– Facilities category, for projects to support the construction or modification of new and upgraded facilities, playing areas or spaces for sport and physical activity, to make them more inclusive, safe and accessible for women and girls.

The funding can be used for the construction of new or upgraded amenities (such as change rooms, showers, toilets) at facilities for sport and physical activity.

Councils can also apply for between $50,000 to $1 million in the Stream 2 – Participation and Equipment category, to support the construction of or modification of sustainable and enduring programs to promote women and girls’ participation in sport and physical activity for women and girls facing disadvantage, particularly those who:

  • are First Nations peoples or culturally and linguistically diverse
  • live with disability
  • reside in regional, rural and remote areas
  • reside in a low socioeconomic area and/or
  • identify as belonging to the LGBTIQA+ community

All projects must be completed by 30 June 2027.
