Councillor Jamie Chaffey was elected to Gunnedah Shire Council on 10 September 2016, when he was also elected as Mayor, and served as Mayor for the entire five-year term (2016-2021).

Cr Chaffey was re-elected as a councillor and re-elected as Mayor at the first meeting of the newly elected council for 2022-2024.

He was endorsed as chair of the Namoi Unlimited Joint Organisation of Councils in 2018 and re-elected as chairperson in 2020.

Cr Chaffey was also elected to the Executive of Country Mayor’s Association of NSW in 202.

Before joining local government, Cr Chaffey served as president of Gunnedah Chamber of Commerce and Industry. He is a strong advocate for small business and has an aggressive approach with a clear vision to grow the Gunnedah Shire through job creation and diversification throughout regional New South Wales.

As Mayor of Gunnedah Shire, Cr Chaffey is extremely focussed on sharing the good news and positive message about Gunnedah and the region with not only local residents, but also nationally and internationally when the opportunity arises.
