Cr Philipa Veitch has served as a councillor on Randwick City Council since 2017 and was Deputy Mayor from 2019-21.

She was elected to the Board of LGNSW in 2021.

Cr Veitch believes we need caring and effective representatives on local government to stand up for what matters in our local communities.

She has been a passionate advocate for her community, with a strong focus on social justice, the environment and ethical and transparent governance. She is a practicing visual artist and qualified teacher, and in addition to council delivers art programs to inmates at NSW Correctional Centres and at the Museum of Contemporary Art. She has also developed programs for women impacted by the criminal justice system and domestic violence. 

Cr Veitch’s qualifications include a Master of Visual Arts, Bachelor of Visual Arts, Bachelor of Teaching and Graduate Diploma in Communications.

She has served on the following council committees:

Greening Randwick; Cultural Advisory; General Managers Appointment; General Mangers Review; Night Time Economy; Environment; Community Affairs; Cycleway and Bike Facilities; Green Square and West Kensington Floodplain; Kensington and Centennial Park Floodplain; Digital Strategy; and delegate to the Eastern Region LG Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Forum, Sydney Costal Councils Group, Randwick Health and Education Precinct Steering Committee, NSW Public Library Association and SSROC.
