National Local Government Human Resources Conference 2017
Themed ‘Brave New World’ the 2017 National Local Government Human Resources Conference is for all HR professionals interested in the people issues facing local governments across Australia. Hosted by Local Government NSW and in partnership with all of the state associations around Australia, this conference is an opportunity to hear from a range of dynamic and experienced speakers while meeting like-minded colleagues from interstate.
The conference will feature expert local government, academic, corporate and government speakers, interactive workshops to exchange best practice across councils, provision of a range of case studies, forums and workshops to encourage stronger networks and the opportunity to socialise with peers.
Speakers will address a wide range of topics relevant to the changing face of local government and current HR trends and themes:
Opportunity and Innovation - Organisations that invest in employee experience are more productive, valuable, attractive, innovative, profitable, and have superior performance than those who don't. This conference will explore innovative approaches to organisational culture, change management, employee engagement and employee flexibility.
Future workforce - What’s in store for the future of work and employment in local government? This conference will be informed by contemporary research and workforce development initiatives being undertaken by local government associations across Australia.
Digital technologies - New technologies are evolving which disrupt our existing business models and make radical changes to the way we work. We will explore technological changes affecting the employment market and how work is undertaken.
Health and wellbeing - Workplace wellness and employee well-being are critical for engaging, motivating and retaining talent as well as attracting new people. We will explore examples of best practice in this important and emerging area.
Analytics and strategy - With the right metrics for HR analytics, HR can become a strategic asset for councils. Gain speed and insight by exploring the possibilities of analytics.

This conference will be held in this heritage listed building that has been extensively refurbished to restore its unique former glory. It is an exceptional venue which combines the atmosphere of historical elegance with state of the art technical facilities, an abundance of natural light and uninterrupted views of Sydney Harbour.
A sunset networking event will be held on the evening of the 15 November, serving drinks and finger food in the Palais which offers Sydney’s most prestigious harbour-side location with uninterrupted views of the Sydney Harbour Bridge, Opera House, harbour and city skyline – an optional event.
