IPART Review of Local Government Rating System

The Independent Pricing and Regulatory Tribunal of NSW (IPART) is currently undertaking a Review of the Local Government Rating System.

A review of the rating system was one of the recommendations of the Independent Local Government Review Panel. IPART received terms of reference for the review in December 2015. The review process includes public consultation, an interim report to the NSW Government on the rate path freeze for newly merged councils in mid-2016, a draft report in August 2016 and a final report in December 2016.

Information about the review, including reports, submissions, and transcripts of public hearing, can be accessed at IPART's website.

LGNSW made comprehensive submissions to the review which can be accessed below. LGNSW also appeared at the public hearings in Sydney on 19 September 2016 and in Dubbo on 10 October 2016.
