Coffs Harbour Councillor Keith Rhoades AFSM was re-elected as Local Government NSW (LGNSW) President in October 2015 following his election as the organisation’s inaugural President two years prior.
 
Cr Rhoades was previously President of Local Government Association of NSW (LGA) and Joint President of the Interim LGNSW Board when the LGA and Shires Association of NSW merged to become LGNSW in March 2013. 
 
First elected to council in Coffs Harbour in 1991, Cr Rhoades was elected as Deputy Mayor in 1999 and served as Mayor from 2004 to 2012. He was also Chairman of the Country Mayors Association from 2007 to 2010.
 
Cr Rhoades was elected as Vice President of Australian Local Government Association in November 2012.
 
He was a member of the NSW Fire Brigade for 39 years. He held the position of Station Commander at Sawtell for 17 years and was awarded the Australian Fire Service Medal in 2005 for services to the NSW Fire Brigade.
 
Cr Rhoades has continued to demonstrate a strong commitment to local government. He is dedicated to representing the needs of NSW councils and greater recognition of their crucial role for local communities.
