New Regulation to restrict use of PFAS firefighting foams

The NSW Government has announced a ban on the use of PFAS firefighting foams for training and demonstration purposes and restriction of their use in other circumstances. The changes are being implemented through the Protection of the Environment Operations (General) Amendment (PFAS Firefighting Foam) Regulation 2021.

NSW EPA will host an online information session over the coming weeks to assist councils with implementation of the Regulation. Planning for the session is under way, and details will be made available to councils in the near future.
