Workplace mental health workshops

Organisation-wide cooperation is essential in promoting good mental health in the workplace.

That’s one of the key messages specialists are hoping participants take from StateCover Mutual’s 2024 Regional Workshops for local government organisations across NSW in March and April.

StateCover’s Return to Work Specialist, Charlotte Bull, will be presenting at the workshops. along with StateCover’s safety and wellbeing teams, industry experts and industrial relations advisers from LGNSW.

“Close collaboration between HR, WHS and RTW teams is so important in identifying and preventing psychosocial hazards that cause grievances and claims for psychological injuries,” Ms Bull said.

“And, just like physical injuries, psych claims need an empathetic approach, early support and treatment, tailored communication strategies, and the commitment to recovery at work from everyone at council, from the top down.”

The StateCover 2024 Regional Workshops will help members of the workers' compensation insurance mutual understand the connections between mental health, performance, psychosocial hazards and psychological injuries in the workplace, and share best-practice approaches to manage them effectively.

Over the course of two months, StateCover’s expert team will bring the workshops to locations around the state, including Queanbeyan, Ballina, Singleton, Coffs Harbour, near the new regional StateCover office in Wagga Wagga, and many more.
