Planning

Whether it’s planning and designing future communities, providing for development in the local area, improving local amenity and ensuring buildings are safe and well-built, councils play a critical role in protecting the environment, health and well-being of their local communities.

LGNSW advocates and makes representations on issues of importance to local government and their communities by responding to changes to planning and building laws, making submissions to all spheres of government on matters affecting local government, and participating in working and reference groups.

Importantly, we believe local government is best placed to lead and influence local planning processes according to the needs and expectations of communities.
