How will the Annual Conference take place in 2020 given COVID-19 restrictions?
LGNSW is pleased to be able to present our Annual Conference in an online format this year, to allow members to come together, submit motions, vote and discuss key issues while still meeting COVID–19 health and safety requirements. The conference will be held online on Monday 23 November, 2020.

As a result, LGNSW has updated the Annual Conference program to suit an online format and has reduced the ticket price to reflect the revamped, shorter program.

Your participation is vital to ensure LGNSW can hold a valid, quorate conference.

The conference will include voting, so it is essential that you continue to register your nominated voting delegates.

While we are disappointed we cannot meet in person this year, we look forward to welcoming delegates to the Conference as it is more important than ever that our sector unites to advance the issues that matter most to local governments in NSW.

How much are tickets to the online conference?
We have reduced the ticket price to $66.00 (including GST) per delegate, to reflect the change in program. The non-member price is $132.00 (including GST).

If you have not yet registered, you can register at the new, lower price here.

Why are you charging delegates to attend the Annual Conference online?
LGNSW is charging a minimal fee to attend the conference to help recover some of the costs incurred by moving a face-to-face conference to an online format.

Moving the Annual Conference online is complex and LGNSW is seeking to recoup some of the audio visual, IT, licensing and other technical costs associated with ensuring we provide a secure and smooth experience for presenters and guests, including confidential voting capability for members. We are aiming for a cost-neutral event.

Thank you in for advance for your understanding and continued support.

I’ve already registered to attend at the old price - will I get a refund?
Yes. LGNSW will email all registered delegates to advise we will automatically provide a refund, less the $66.00 registration fee per delegate for the new online program. We trust this will minimise any inconvenience and means you will not need to re-register your delegates. Please email [email protected] if you have any queries regarding the program.

If you have registered to attend the conference but can no longer attend on Monday 23 November, a full refund will be provided. Please email [email protected] if you require a full refund.

How do I obtain a refund for my accommodation?
If you booked via the Crowne Plaza Hotel booking link, your booking will be automatically cancelled out of the hotel booking system.

If you booked via alternate avenues or at another hotel, please contact the hotel to cancel your booking.

How do I obtain a refund for my transport?
Please cancel any transport you have booked directly with your transport provider.

My Council has already advised LGNSW of our nominated voting delegates for voting on motions, will we need to re-submit our nominated voting delegates for the new conference format?
No. If you have already submitted your nominated voting delegates, you do not have to re-submit your nominated voting delegates for the new conference format.

What is the new conference program?
We have developed a special conference program, to ensure delegates can still vote, hear from key Ministers and more. See our program for details.

Will there be voting at the conference?
Yes, there will be voting at this year’s conference, and members are required to advise LGNSW of the names of their nominated voting delegates by 12 noon (AEDT) on Tuesday, 3 November 2020.  Your participation is vital to ensure LGNSW can hold a valid, quorate conference.
Information on how to nominate voting delegates

Can I still submit motions?
Yes. We very much want members to submit motions to the conference to help inform our ongoing advocacy on behalf of the local government sector.

Will LGNSW still issue a Business Paper with motions submitted by members?
Yes. The Business Paper will contain motions submitted by members that are consistent with the motion eligibility criteria, LGNSW rules and any other directions from the LGNSW Board.

How are we dealing with debate on motions?
We are working through the details of how members will be engaged on motions and how motions will be dealt with as part of the revised conference format and we will communicate further with members about this over the coming months.

How will I join the conference and vote online?
We are still finalising technical arrangements for the conference, including for online voting, and will provide updates on these aspects as soon as possible.

What if I am not a voting member? Will I be able to attend?
Yes, general managers, council staff and elected representatives of members who are not voting delegates (“non-voting members”) are encouraged to register to attend and participate in the conference.

Non-members are also able to attend conference.

I’m a sponsor. What will I get for my sponsorship?
Thank you for supporting our conference. We will be in touch soon with our revised sponsorship prospectus. Michelle Aubert from LGNSW will contact you to discuss options for being part of the new event.
