This Local Government-oriented program will introduce you to what privacy means, how personal information is protected by law, consent and storing information issues, and how to manage information requests.

Privacy is a self-paced learning module. It is grounded in principles contained in national legislation but sets these principles in council context.

It contains three topics of content:

  • Privacy Uncovered – what ‘privacy’ means; what types of personal information are relevant; how personal information is protected by law; case study (disclosing personal information)
  • Managing Personal Information – collecting information
  • Using Personal Information – accurate records and limited use; case study

The module is tailored to local government staff and will provide relevant local government examples derived from HR professionals, to help transfer the learning to the workplace.

This online individual self-paced module can be completed over a 12-month period.

Duration: 30 minutes plus a quiz
