Tweed Shire Council - Tackling Mosquitoes Together
The Asian tiger mosquito can easily adapt to our climate and is known to carry Dengue fever. ‘Tackling Mosquitoes Together’ is an important environmental health initiative that builds regional resilience to the climate change-driven threat of mosquito-borne disease in the Northern Rivers of NSW.
Seven NSW Northern River councils and the Local NSW Public Health Unit worked together to establish an effective rapid response network, two-day mock exercise and citizen science survey.
This project strengthened regional partnerships which will be long lasting and have an application across a number of other future key regional environmental health initiatives.

Blacktown City Council - Environmental recognition business program
Blacktown is home to some of New South Wales’ highest concentrations of commercial and industrial businesses. Protecting and improving the stormwater runoff from these areas is imperative for the health of the 17 major creek lines in the area.
The Environmental Recognition Business Program encourages commercial and industrial businesses to meet regulatory standards and reduce stormwater pollution, supports businesses requiring improvement and acknowledges those who go above and beyond basic compliance.
