Lachlan Shire Council: Renewable energy project
Lachlan Shire Council developed and adopted an energy sustainability plan that uncovered $360,000 of savings, per year, every year, across a range of projects, from solar installations to new energy contracts.

The council installed 14 renewable energy projects, including 612KW of solar power and a 180KWh battery storage to improve resilience through the reconfiguration of the sites to incorporate renewable energy, facilitate trials in battery storage, peak demand savings, intelligent demand response and control, provision of electric vehicle charging, virtual power plant trials, comprehensive monitoring of real time savings, energy consumption and a reduction in carbon emissions through a dedicated monitoring platform.

Central Coast Council: Recreational infrastructure upgrades: kayak launching facility – southern Tuggerah Lakes
This project was undertaken by Central Coast Council to address black ooze accumulation and poor water quality in the near shore zone at Tuggerah Lakes, while providing improved kayak access facilities and rehabilitation of important foreshore vegetation.

Community and environmental benefits from the project include improved wheelchair access to the foreshore, construction of a kayak access point, installation of footpaths, fencing and a permeable surface car park, as well as the enhancement of the foreshore saltmarsh vegetation, which also resulted in improved connectivity and resilience of this endangered ecological community.
