The draft NSW Clean Air Strategy presents the whole-of-government approach to improving air quality and protecting communities.
You can view and provide comments on the draft Strategy on the NSW Government Have Your Say site.
The draft strategy sets out five key action areas to mitigate community exposure to poor air quality, during extreme events and on a day-to-day basis.
The five areas are:
- Better preparedness for pollution events;
- Cleaner industry;
- Cleaner transport, engines and fuels;
- Healthier households, and
- Better places.
The five priority areas take into account previous public consultation as well as recent government policies, and considers the recommendations of inquiries into the 2019-20 bushfire season to minimise health impacts from bushfire smoke.
The consultation period is open until 23 April 2021. If necessary, councils may request an extension by emailing [email protected].
LGNSW welcomes your feedback on the proposed amendments. Please email Susy Cenedese by Tuesday 20 April so comments can be incorporated into the LGNSW submission.
