Coaching and Mentoring for Managers

This program will provide the skills and knowledge to use coaching to promote high levels of motivation and performance in your team.

Who should attend

All staff who manage others - team leaders, supervisors and individuals. This workshop is suitable for both indoor and outdoor leaders.

Content

This workshop will cover:

  • The role and importance of coaching
  • When is coaching appropriate?
  • Coaching for both unsatisfactory performance or behavior, and moving staff to high performance
  • Your experiences as coach with effective and less effective employees
  • The Coaching Model – a practical tool for coaching others to higher performance
  • Identify the Problem, Develop Solutions, follow up
  • Skills practices in coaching
  • The essential skill of questioning for insight and challenge
  • Facilitating versus directing
  • Increasing your confidence in handling a range of difficult situations

Process

A variety of learning initiatives will be used in the training. These include group and pair discussions and skills practices .

Participants will also be provided with a manual which includes a range of ready to use coaching tools.

Facilitator

Amanda Phillips has provided diverse learning programs through consultation to both the private and public sector. She has successfully designed and presented programs focused on leadership and management areas in both national and international forums.

Amanda has worked with a wide variety of clients including recent work with: NSW Transport – Point to Point Commission, Office of the NSW Small Business Commissioner, SafeWork NSW, City of Sydney, the University of Sydney, UTS, UNSW, the Australian Institute of Company Directors (AICD), the Law Society and multiple state and local government bodies.
