Central Darling Shire Council 
Finance Officer

  • 12 month contract
  • Based in Wilcannia
  • Attractive remuneration is on offer

Central Darling Shire Council is seeking to appoint a suitably experienced and qualified Finance Officer to join the organisation. Reporting to the Director Business Services, you will be responsible for providing efficient financial administration and revenue recovery, assisting the Manager Finance and Director Business Services where required and maintaining the Grants Register and the acquittal of grants.

This role plays an integral part in ensuring the smooth operation of the organisation and the achievement of its strategic objectives. To be successful in the role you must meet the following selection criteria:

Essential Skills and Experience

  • Qualification in accounting or appropriate experience
  • Experience in local government, ideally in the finance and rating areas
  • Experience in finance related functions
  • A broad understanding of reporting requirements and grant acquittals
  • Demonstrated experience and commitment to providing quality customer service both face to face and on the telephone
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of computer systems
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in updating computerised databases
  • Demonstrated high level of time management and organisational skills
  • Demonstrated ability to act in a professional manner and adhere to Council’s values and behaviours

Desirable Qualifications and Experience

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with people at all levels of the organisation
  • Demonstrated commitment to providing excellent customer service
  • Experience in working as part of a team, and the ability to work independently
  • Ability to be courteous, sensitive and have a professional approach in dealing with stakeholders
