Bayside Council - Bayside Community Recycling Innovation Hub
Bayside Council’s Community Recycling Drop Off events allow residents the opportunity to drop off items at two locations, over 22 annual events. Approximately 44 tonnes have been dropped off, with approximately 90% being recoverable. The recycling innovation hub has been resurfaced with Reconophalt, a new asphalt product that incorporates recycled materials like soft plastics, glass, toner from used cartridges and reclaimed asphalt. Kiama Municipal Council - Household bulky waste drop off event
Council established the annual Household Bulky Waste Drop Off Event to replace one of the scheduled household kerbside clean ups. This enables residents to drop off unwanted large bulky items, increases resource recovery rates and minimises illegal dumping of large household items.
Winner Division B
Byron Shire Council - Butt Free Byron Shire
Litter monitoring found that 82% of the ground litter in the Byron Shire was smoking related. Council formed an alliance with local community groups to spread awareness, installed 128 new cigarette bins, implemented a smoking ban on all beaches and undertook enforcement and monitoring. A 78% decrease in cigarette litter was achieved.

Waverley Council - Multi-Unit Dwellings (MUDs) recycling program
Waverley Council has worked closely with strata managers and residents in 803 units across 41 buildings to improve bin infrastructure and service design in addition to providing clear instructions on how to recycle correctly. Innovations include the creation of a template Strata Waste By-Law and reusable bags for residents to store and transport recyclables.
